Van Gogh Flowers was established in 1995 as a wholesale flower supplier to the trade industry and in 2013 we opened our doors as a retail business to the public. Van Gogh Flowers is based in beautiful Hawthorn East.

Glen Iris is a large residential suburb located 10 kilometres southeast of Melbourne`s central business district. The suburb is found between Hawthorn East and Camberwell to the north, and Malvern East and Ashburton to the south. Glen Iris enjoys a generous array of green spaces, a significant portion of which are concentrated around Gardiners Creek, which flows through the suburb`s west, adjacent to the Monash Freeway. Since the 1990s, Glen Iris has been Melbourne`s geographical centre of population.

History

Glen Iris is named after one of the area`s earliest properties, which was established in the 1850s. The estate was owned by Captain Thomas Henderson, who arrived in Melbourne in the 19th century on a ship called Iris. By the 1880s, the surrounding area was known as the township of Glen Iris. The suburb`s two railway stations both opened in 1890.

Glen Iris is home to a wide variety of green spaces and recreational facilities. Howard Dawson Reserve, Nettleton Park and Glen Iris Park are all found adjacent to Gardiners Creek. The Harold Holt Memorial Swimming Centre is located on High Street, in the suburb`s west. The swimming centre commemorates Australian Prime Minister Harold Holt, who infamously disappeared in rough surf near Portsea in 1967 and was presumed drowned.
